For over a decade, she developed a distinguished career in international humanitarian service, with missions in Rwanda, Burundi, the former Yugoslavia, and Ireland. Later, she took an active role in Colombian public life: she served as Senator of the Republic, President of the Human Rights Commission of the Senate, Co-Director of the Colombian Liberal Party, Director of the Parliamentary Front against Hunger in Colombia, and Ambassador of Colombia to Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

In parallel, she has been an opinion columnist in more than fifteen national and international media outlets, becoming a reference voice on human rights, transitional justice, and public policy. Her humanitarian work and strong defense of human rights have earned her numerous international recognitions, including two honorary doctorates and the highest decoration of the French Senate for international humanitarian work. After resigning from her post as Ambassador of Colombia to Switzerland and Liechtenstein in August 2022, she focused on creating job opportunities in Colombia, leading three business initiatives as president and majority partner:

- CarmenSacha Biotechnological Park (S.A.S.), in Montes de María, dedicated to agriculture and the

recovery of ancestral superfoods through restorative agriculture.

- Industrias CarmenSacha S.A.S., a factory that transforms and adds value to these products, already

exporting oil and snacks to the United States.

- BeAmaz, a commercial company based in Madrid, with international partners, aimed at opening

markets worldwide for these products.

Currently, she has resumed her role as active President of the Colombian Federation of Victims

(FEVCOL), leads the think-tank platform Colombia por la Equidad, and recently joined the Board of

Directors of the BeAI Foundation.
